ZTE Tania offered by Virgin Media

27 April 2012

Budget Windows Phone is available from £17.99 per month

All has been a little quiet with the ZTE Tania since the phone was mentioned as coming to the UK back in January. Back then, it was talked about as heading to Virgin Media, but it has taken until now for the company to offer the budget Windows Phone.

The phone got a decent review off us back in February and is probably worth a look if you want a Windows Phone, but don't want to pay out too much each month. It's certainly on a par with the Nokia Lumia 710 in our own test. But it is very much an entry-level phone, offering a 1GHz single-core processor, 5-megapixel camera, 4GB of storage and 4.3-inch TFT screen.

How cheap? Pay-as-you-go customers will be able to pick up the Windows 7.5 phone for £199.99. Alternatively, you can get one for 'free' on a monthly deal, with prices starting at £17.99 a month. That '7.5' thing is obviously important, with Microsoft making its Marketplace accessible only to phones with that operating system from this week.

You can pick one up from mid-May at Virgin, which is the first network to offer the handset in the UK.
