Could this be the new Samsung Galaxy S3?

19 March 2012

Leaked online image suggests launch date of 22 May for Samsung's Galaxy S3

A professional looking image has appeared on the social sharing site Reddit of what is claiming to be the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy S3.  It's the latest titbit in a seemingly endless stream of speculation about the handset so naturally it's provoked plenty of interest, not only for suggesting what the phone will look like but also for 'announcing' a launch date of May 22nd.

If the image is representative of the product, we're loving the miniscule bezel and the incredibly thin profile.  The white and grey design is something different for Samsung but the elongated home button and five docked icons are typical of the South Korean manufacturer.  The side view suggests a dedicated camera button on the edge of the trimmed down chassis.

The doubts creep in with the lack of navigation keys either side of the home button - something necessary for Android Ice Cream Sandwich.  Also posing a question is the inclusion of "Weber Shandwick" on the slide.  Samsung has worked with them in the past but they're not the current PR agency handling the company's smartphones.

What we do know is that the successor to the Galaxy S2 will definitely be launched in the first half of the year at a Samsung-hosted event.  We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear any more about the device.
